Should I quit?

Something I ask myself a lot lately...

Should I quit my business?

Should I quit my fitness journey?

Should I quit living in Shrewsbury?

So many ‘should I quits!’

I recently got my appointment with the Musculoskeletal team to review my MRI properly and was told I would probably need surgery on my herniated disc. It’s still compressing my S1 nerve and causing me a lot of pain and nothing I’ve tried has relieved it. From physio, to rest, to gentle movement. He said unfortunately surgery may be my only option, but there is a waiting list of 12+ months.

On top of that I have lost most reaction in my right foot. Which I won’t lie, was pretty scary to see.

The last 8 months, I could have just quit my fitness journey. Most people would've used that as their reason to stop.

So why didn’t I?

Fitness and movement is such an engrained part of my life, I had no inclination to give up. Because everything is adaptable. And I mean everything.

No I can’t run. No I can’t do much leg training. But I CAN still hike, walk, swim, bike, train upper body and core.

Don’t get me wrong, emotionally this has been one hell of a rollercoaster. But I didn’t want to say ‘I’ve given up’ because that’s just not me.

My fitness and nutrition journey was built from a place of hate originally. A hate of my body.

It then turned into a place of control.

I could control every single calorie I ate. I could control how often I went to the gym. I could control my life to keep myself as small as possible.

Until I learned exactly how to have it all.

Live my life. Eat for my life. Move because I genuinely love it.

I get it. Something is holding you back. You’re waiting for the right time. The right feeling. That moment when life calms down and it all feels perfect.

But ask yourself honestly... does that version of you ever arrive?

Because this doesn’t happen like a switch. We are built through the hard moments. Through the decisions that feel impossible. Through choosing yourself, even when it’s the hardest thing to do.

Not because ‘look at me, I’m special’

But because I know you want this more than you’re willing to admit.

You’re just so focused on the belief that it hasn’t worked before, so it won’t now.

This is what I’m focusing on more in my coaching with my client, because your journey isn’t just here’s your programme, here’s your calories - now go tick it off.

It’s about building a version of you who actually follows through with your life. The promises you keep with yourself.

Because I have seen this happen with so many women, they give up as soon as the scale doesn’t move. As soon as life stops ‘feeling perfect’.

But once you start to trust yourself with the small things.

The things you thought were unachievable, become your biggest goals.

I didn’t ever think I could run Tour du Mont Blanc or complete a half ironman, but I backed myself and have achieved some pretty amazing things along the way.

And I know you can do the same!
